Week 7 Recap and Mid-Week Storylines
I want to start by
reminding everybody we lost two iconic figures of the NFL in Bud Adams and Bum
Phillips. There contributions to the game are well documented and much
appreciated. For my 7 predictions for Week 7, I went 4-3, 2 of 3 three losses
being Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. My
upset pick of the week was the Steelers over the Ravens by 3 points, which is
exactly what happened. Of two weeks of predictions, I am 13-8.
Mid-week Storylines
Calm Down…
Anybody panicking
about Denver losing really should take a chill pill. It is one loss, which was
an away game for the Broncos, against a very legitimate contender. Not to
mention a very emotion loaded game for Peyton, which definitely could have
taken a toll on him. Another thing that took a toll on him: Robert Mathis. Have
the Colts shown the rest of the NFL a blueprint to stop the Broncos? First of
all is it really “stopping” them considering they still scored 33 points and
were a goal line fumble away from a potential victory? Also, does every team
have Vontae Davis and Robert Mathis and Co? No. Exactly.
New England
Patriots fans panicking should also pop a chill pill. Yes they lost to a
division rival but it was in New York! Not only that, it is October. As the
Patriots say, the real season doesn’t start till after Thanksgiving. Also, the
reason the Patriots lost on Sunday was: Tom Brady. That should be most
comforting because everybody knows Tom Brady will not struggle forever. If
there is one concern, it is the injuries, in all three phases. I think they are
catching up to them.
Injury roundup:
The fact that the
Rams were even rumored to have interest in Tim Tebow is a bad thing. Sam
Bradford done for the year with a torn ACL.
Reggie Wayne tears
his ACL and is done for the year. A very major blow for the Colts as they now
rely on a bunch of young talent and pretty much lose their main veteran voice
on the offensive side of the ball.
The Bears took a
beating on Sunday: literally. First of all they lose a high scoring game to a
desperate Redskins team. Then on top of that they lose their defensive and
offensive leader in Lance Briggs and Jay Cutler for about 4-6 weeks. It’s a
shame considering how well Cutler was playing in the new offense.
Doug Martin for
the Buccaneers is out indefinitely.
Jermichael Finely
is out of the ICU after a spinal contusion. Out for Sundays game, and will go
through further evaluation to determine what actions to take. Would not be a
surprise if he landed on IR. Aaron Rodgers is now without Finely, Randall Cobb,
and James Jones.
World Series
Boston Red Sox take on the St. Louis Cardinals tonight for Game 1 of the series. My prediction is Boston in 6.
Week 7:
5- Peyton Manning
4- Robert Griffin III
3- Geno Smith
2- Aaron Rodgers
1- Andrew Luck
Season:
5- Andrew Luck
4- Aaron Rodgers
3- Tony Romo
